As early as 1927, the British used RF Directional Finders to locate unlicensed radio operators

The Scout series Radio Directional Finders will be available in several versions as follows:

1.  Fully assembled and tested.

2.  Semi Kit.  All parts on the printed circuit control board are already soldered and tested.  Just final assembly is needed.

3.  Kit project.  You will need soldering experience and some electronic knowledge for assembling the 'Kit Project'.

Notes: In all cases, the special dual Dipole Antenna will need to be re-assembled due to physical size of shipping.  This is fairly simple and does not require any cutting or drilling.

When will these be available?

Fall of 2016 is our target.  Timely parts availability and some mechanical engineering changes has delayed our release.  We are in the stages of manufacturing a small amount of engineering prototypes for evaluation and based on a timely release, should have production models available by August / September delivery.

Cost?

Final cost figures are not in as yet.

Where will they be shipped from?

FOB West Melbourne, Florida, USA.

Specifications?

We will provide a specification sheet posted on this website soon.

Preliminary information is as follows:

  • Usable from 30 MHz to 1000 MHz with element spacing changes.  Factory: 100-500 MHz
  • User supplied receiver/transceiver.  Usually a hand-held radio
  • Direction of signal derived from phase shift, via an audible tone and zero center meter, not signal strength
  • Compact light weight design can be used by one person
  • Heavy duty Pin diodes are used to eliminate RF damage to sensitive circuitry in case of accidental transmitting while tracking (if using a hand-held transceiver)
  • Made and designed here in the USA
